Optimal oxygen levels are a vital factor in promoting healthy
fish and high yield in the hatchery business. The following
calculations can assist you in determining dissolved oxygen
efficiencies.
VMG Industries manufactures two oxygen/nitrogen improvement
systems, GASTAC and Inline-Ox. We can help you evaluate which
system is best for your operation. Go to Oxygen/Nitrogen Systems,
and complete the online form. VMG will provide you a recommendation
based on your data.
STEP
ONE
How much oxygen is needed?
Use the following if you know gallons per minute water flow
and the desired increase in oxygen in ppm of 02:

= Increase
in dissolved oxygen
378 = one liter of pure oxygen per minute treats 378
gallons per minute of water at 100% oxygen injection efficiency.
Use the decimal equivalent of the percentage in the
following Formula for Efficiency. (50% efficiency = .50)
Note: 3.78 liters = one gallon of water
Use the following to convert liters per minute of needed
02 to cubic feet per hour:

28.32 liters = 1 cubic foot of 0
